About
The Director
Master
of movement, Ellen Werksman is a professional dancer, choreographer,
teacher, adjudicator, Director of Midwest Dance Collective, Dancewerks
Productions, and produced and directed Applause Talent Presentations Scholarship and Workshop
Series for over 15 years. She awards over $10,000 in dance
education scholarships each year and has been
described as:
"A
dancer with an extremely
accomplished sense of
character...",
"A bundle of radiant energy..."
(Dance
Magazine)
"A highly skilled teacher..."
(Dance
Spirit)
"One of the country's finest instructors..."
(Goldrush Magazine)
"A teacher's teacher..."
(IDC Director Randy
Coleman)
"One of
our favorite teachers this year..."
(Dance Masters
Workshops)
"Mesmerizing..."
(Chicago Reader)
It is no wonder
with her diversity and creativity that she is a four-time recipient of the
prestigious "Who's Who Among American Teachers"
award!
Ms. Werksman has been a source of inspiration for the thousands of dancers
she has taught over the last 25 years: her message of passion, commitment,
and integrity...
along with her realistic sense of the dance business
are
combined and shared in every aspect of the
Dancewerks Experience.
Ms.
Werksman believes that all dance is related and for a dancer to be truly
proficient they must understand, appreciate, and respect the facets of
each style and technique.
Her commitment to dance - and years of experience in the commercial and
artistic communities - has inspired her to create the Dancewerks
Experience. The goal of this endeavor is to aid dancers in
discovering all options as a student and performer: the dance business has
much to offer and Ellen Werksman utilizes her knowledge, education and
experience to provide opportunities for dancers to realize success through
their art.
Passing on the legacy of dance as an
art form is a key
component
of the Dancewerks Experience!
