Art of Dance
Performance and Technique Workshops  

The Art of Dance Performance and Technique Workshop is a
totally custom-designed intensive workshop tailored to serious students of dance
aspiring to aggressively train and refine their dance performance skills and technique.
Designed and developed to provide a personal hands-on
dance education experience to students, this workshop focuses on each
individual studio’s aspirations and goals by creating an environment of
development through a mutually-achieved process.
This personalized process typically involves determining
the studio’s expectations, evaluating the student capabilities,
and tailoring the workshop to suit those needs. In this way,
the studio owner can ensure the best investment
in a truly customized workshop experience.

 

WORKSHOP FORMATS are designed to the needs of the Host studio.  After consultation, programming for the workshop will be determined. By bringing the workshop to your studio, teachers, parents and students benefit:  Student-teacher ratios are kept to an acceptable limit to promote the education of the dancer – class scheduling is flexible. All programming is customized to suit the needs of the teachers and students!  

The following are examples from past workshops:  

Technique Workshop: includes Ellen Werksman and a staff of 2-4 instructors conducting classes in Ballet, Ballet Body Workout, Jazz, Modern, Lyrical, Tap, Musical Theater, Improvisation, Hip Hop and more.  The class structure is custom-designed to meet the needs of the studio.  A breakdown of Junior and Senior level classes is recommended.

Choreography Workshop:  choreography will be created and designed specifically for the students. Solos, Duets, Trios or Group pieces.  This choreography can be utilized for competitions etc.  This workshop can be used to develop dances for future performance venues or as a learning tool.   Optional choice: Dancers “Audition” for a part in a piece and are taken through the “ins and outs” of the entire audition process until the end product is finished and ready for performance.  Dancers learn the importance of personality, type-casting, quick learning and the reality of the Audition process.  

Competition Edge Workshop:  Judges / instructors from The Art of Dance staff will adjudicate individual competition dances and through “hands-on” evaluation can aid in choreography design, spacing suggestions, technique correction, etc.  Students will receive advice on fixing common mistakes and get that extra-added enthusiasm of correction and evaluation from our outstanding staff.   Additionally: A Custom-designed Master Class to work on specific skills to enhance the performance/ competition experience can be offered based on student evaluation during Competition Edge Workshop.
